Problems with the anaesthetic can lead to lap band deaths. And whilst this might not be as a direct result of the lap band, the fact that the operation is happening at all is still a risk.

Any problems with the healing of the incision areas could ultimately lead to fatalities.

Lastly an inability to eat or drink enough nutrients or fluids can result in serious dehydration and malnutrition which could ultimately end in lap band fatalities.
