Lap Band Problems
Here a no holds barred account from a lady called Wendy from southern California who is 34 years old.
She openly discusses the good parts of having the operation...
the lap band problems she is experiencing and a very interesting viewpoint as to why there aren't many more lap band horror stories on YouTube specifically.
She relays her day at the gym and sees the positives for being comfortable in the surroundings of the gym.
Completing a day of using liquids because she wanted to eat normal food on new year’s eve and was hoping to reach a weight loss goal.
She mentions in her account that she didn't eat the usual way of consuming soft easy to eat foods in the morning and as a result she needed to go to the bathroom in the evening at a restaurant because she needed to burp because she felt that food was stuck in her chest, not because she didn't chew her food properly. Because she chose the wrong food first thing in the day and went in to a downward spiral from there.
Had a struggling day and ate a lot food that she didn't normally eat.
She feels that the reason there are so many good YouTube videos is because the people that make the videos are dedicated to making the lap band work for them so they stick to the advice completely. If you follow the rules, you'll be successful and won't experience any lap band problems.
Banded Wendy (her nickname) says that the only lap band problems she has are those caused by herself by not letting the band do its job. When you do work hard and follow all the rules and are successful and you want to tell everyone about it.
She feels the main reasons for any lap band problems are...
Sometimes there is a defective band which is no fault of the patient.
The person doing the fills didn't know what they were doing and wasn't competent and punctured the band
Exercised too early after the operation.
Too tight a fill and not doing anything about it which should be reported.
The lap band problems in Wendy’s opinion are due to patients not doing what they are supposed to or being out of their control which is why there isn't very many bad videos about lap band problems because most lap banded patients are on a mission to get better.
I thought it would also be great if I included a video from Wendy before she had the band fitted which is also really good because it runs through the advice she was given prior to the operation. At this stage she weighs 244lbs and her goal is to lose 100lbs
She also thanks many people for taking the time to document their success on YouTube.com.
A clear liquid diet for 7 days prior to the operation, the post op diet is the same or very similar.
The foods she chooses are...
Flavoured water
Low Salt Chicken Broth
On the go
Iced tea without milk or sugar added
Diet Snapple (not sure what that is although I think it might be apple juice)
She can have soups and salads with no dressingsduring this time if she wishes.
It's a great insight in to preparations needed before the operation. I know adding this video here doesn't make too much sense as this page is all about lap band problems but I thought it would be a great idea to include Wendy’s very first pre op video.
So in summary in Wendy’s opinion, the only lap band problems that most people have are by not following the advice. So the moral of the story is if you have the operation and want to avoid any side effects of having a band fitted, you MUST FOLLOW THE ADVICE GIVEN!!!
